Nestled along the idyllic Avalon Coast in New South Wales, Belah House is a masterpiece that seamlessly blends innovation, beauty and sustainability. Designed by architecture firm Silvester Fuller in collaboration with famous television host, horticulturist, and award-winning Australian landscape designer Jamie Durie, this eco-conscious home embodies a deep respect for the environment while showcasing cutting-edge green technology. From revolutionary renewable energy systems to Neolith’s eco-friendly surfaces, Belah House sets a new benchmark for sustainable living.
The First Nations Wiradjuri word "Belah” translates to "Sun". For Jamie Durie, the name encapsulates the home’s relationship with the natural elements. “We wanted to create a house that was connected to the land, just as the river carves its own path through the environment. Every decision in this build was made with sustainability, rejuvenation, and longevity in mind”, reflects.
“This is the most ambitious project of my life”
- Jamie Durie,
Australian television personality
Belah House is the culmination of a three-year journey, driven by Jamie Durie’s lifelong passion for environmental sustainability. “We set out to prove that you can build a luxury home, without compromise, that’s also kind to the planet”, explains Durie. Alongside his partner Ameka and their young family, the landscape designer set out to create not just a home, but a blueprint for sustainable living.
From the outset, Neolith was a key material choice, contributing not only undeniable aesthetic value but also offering a highly durable and sustainable solution. The sintered stone surfaces are seamlessly integrated throughout the home, bringing character and functionality to every application.

Belah House exemplifies the future of sustainable luxury, where innovation and advanced materials like Neolith redefine residential architecture. More than just a private residence, it proves that design, technology, and sustainability can coexist in perfect harmony, offering comfort and style without compromising the environment.
In addition to the careful selection of materials, this pioneering project integrates cutting-edge green technologies to create a truly sustainable home. Its revolutionary geothermal heating, cooling, and renewable energy systems allow for grid independence, resulting in over 80% savings on energy bills. It also features a chemical and chlorine-free pool system, contributing to a healthier, more environmentally friendly lifestyle.
The home also incorporates a circadian rhythm lighting program designed to enhance sleep quality, while its flooring and window coverings are made from recycled ocean plastics. The blinds can reduce energy costs by up to 80%.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, the concrete used in the construction is a groundbreaking Australian innovation that reduces carbon emissions by 35% to 65%.

Despite the challenging site—a 37-degree slope in a sensitive environmental zone populated with protected spotted gum trees—Durie and his team have seamlessly merged innovation with nature. “We worked with the land, not against it. Every tree, every contour of the site, informed our design decisions.”, explains.
Belah House redefines the concept of home, setting a new standard in the fusion of design, innovation, and sustainability. Every choice within the project reflects a vision of respect for the environment without sacrificing aesthetic excellence.
“This project is more than a home—it’s a legacy”
- Jamie Durie,
Australian television personality
For Durie, this project is a clear example of how architecture and design can positively impact the planet. “If we can inspire even one person to rethink their approach to sustainability, then we’ve done our job”, reflects.
Neolith’s role in the design
Belah House perfectly integrates Neolith’s sintered stone surfaces throughout the building, combining refined aesthetics with practical durability.
“Neolith was the perfect choice for us. Not only is it incredibly durable and beautiful, but it’s also made with sustainability in mind. That’s exactly what this house stands for.”
- Jamie Durie,
Australian television personality
In the kitchen, the striking Neolith Calacatta takes center stage, adorning the main countertops, café nook, and butler’s pantry. The café nook elevates both form and function, with Neolith extending from the countertop to the backsplash, creating a seamless visual flow.
