HU System

Hidden undercut system

The HU system is an exclusively mechanical ventilated façade system designed for Neolith slabs with thicknesses of 12 or 20 mm. For safety reasons, a fiberglass mesh is applied to the back of the panels to prevent shattering caused by accidental breakage.

This system is comprised of brackets, vertical profiles, horizontal profiles and clips. All elements are made of aluminum. The support and retention brackets make the aluminum "T" profiles properly flat, correcting any wall deviations in the façade to be cladded.

The horizontal profiles are fixed on the vertical profiles forming a structural framework. These horizontal profiles have a male-shaped section. The female-shaped clips are fixed to the back of the Neolith slabs with an expansive anchor (Keil or similar). A drill hole and an undercut must first be made in the Neolith slab in order to install these expansive anchors. Finally the Neolith slabs with the installed clips are hung on the horizontal profiles.

Due to the design of the clips, this system may be vertically adjusted on the façade once a slab is installed. A minimum horizontal and vertical joint of 5 mm between Neolith panels is recommended.

HU System Installation

The distances between profiles depend on the façade  or wall cladding design, the type of wall and/or building  structure and the very location of the building. The vertical profiles are installed against the wall using fixed anchors.

Chemical fixing involves applying adhesive and double-sided self-adhesive tape directly to the vertical profiles. For good adhesion, the Neolith panels and vertical profiles must be pre-treated. The general steps are described below:

01.

Façade staking: the arrangement of the aluminum vertical profiles which can be installed completely independent to the vertical joints.

02.

Vertical profile installation: the vertical structure is anchored to the wall using retention and support brackets and anchors.

03.

Horizontal profile installation: the position of the horizontal profiles must be determined according to the installation plan of the façade. This structure is anchored to the vertical structure by self-drilling screws.

04.

Installation of the Neolith cladding: once the staples have been fixed to the back of the Neolith slabs with the expansive anchorage, installation must begin at the bottom of the façade. It is a very fast façade system to install and the tiles may be replaced when required.
