Design and gastronomy in the heart of Athens

Athens, Greece

Renowned Greek chef Panos Ioannidis redefines his culinary space with creativity, functionality, and cutting-edge design

Project location: Athens, Greece
Project type: Restaurant
Neolith Materials:

Neolith Beton, Neolith Basalt Black, Neolith Iron Corten and Neolith Calatorao

Chef Panos Ioannidis, known for his innovative approach to cooking and his strong presence as a social media influencer, boasting a community of nearly 600,000 followers, has opened Greece’s first culinary experience studio in Athens. This innovative space, called Gastronomy Studio & Culinary Experiences, offers exquisite dinners and also hosts corporate events, culinary seminars, and team-building activities, standing out as a unique venue of its kind.

To bring this project to life, the chef used a total of four elegant models of Neolith sintered stone surfaces: Beton, Basalt Black, Iron Corten, and Calatorao. The combination of these colors created a meticulously crafted space that balances aesthetics and functionality, providing a cozy and versatile environment adaptable to the different needs of the chef and his clients.

The space was designed to meet the diverse needs of the studio, with mobile furniture that facilitates both the cooking process and teaching.

A place with its own character

Gastronomy Studio & Culinary Experiences is divided into different areas: a kitchen, a dining room-bar, and an outdoor garden that offers a natural and relaxing atmosphere. Chef Ioannidis’ vision was to create a space that fused various styles, achieving a cohesive and elegant design.

The kitchen is a place of culinary innovation, while the dining room-bar provides a rustic yet sophisticated ambiance that extends into the outdoor garden. The garden adds a natural element to the space, creating a harmonious contrast with the industrial aesthetic of the interior.

"The challenge of this project was to create a versatile space that could be transformed according to the needs of the moment, without sacrificing design coherence", Ioannidis explains. "The choice of materials like Neolith was essential to achieving this balance", he emphasizes.

Transformation through Neolith

"The Neolith surfaces provided us with the perfect solution, combining durability and design with the necessary certifications for food processing", the chef asserts. To bring this project to life, he chose Neolith sintered stone surfaces for their ability to add functionality, beauty, and durability to the space.

Another reason the chef selected Neolith is that its materials, in addition to meeting strict aesthetic and technical requirements, also offered the necessary certifications for food processing—a crucial aspect for a professional culinary environment.

For the claddings and kitchen countertops, the chosen model was Beton, as its design, inspired by concrete, makes it ideal for industrial-style environments. Additionally, its smooth and durable finish integrated perfectly with the studio’s environment.

For the cabinets, the chef chose the color Basalt Black, inspired by basalt stone. Its homogeneous design in warm dark tones, combined with the Full Body mass decoration, provided an elegant and understated contrast that highlighted the space’s robust character.

For the tabletops, Ioannidis opted for the Calatorao model, with its fossilized chocolate-brown background and white and gold veins, making it perfect for contemporary spaces. It adds warmth and sophistication to the dining area.

For the wine cellars, Iron Corten fit perfectly. Inspired by corten steel sheets, the orange hues and metallic specks of this model gave the space a unique industrial style touch.

Design and functionality to complement the finest gastronomy

Neolith's sintered stone surfaces have become a benchmark in high-end gastronomic spaces. In addition to their unmatched aesthetics, they offer durability, hygiene, and ease of cleaning—essential features for an environment where creativity and culinary excellence are paramount.

Chef Ioannidis’s choice of Neolith was based on his search for a material that not only met high food safety standards but also provided the versatility needed to create a space that reflected his vision and talent.

Thanks to Neolith and the support of Stonetech as its trusted distributor, Gastronomy Studio & Culinary Experiences has been transformed into a space where design, sustainability, and functionality come together to deliver a truly unique culinary experience.
