An architecture made of light and silence

Guangzhou, China

An architectural language guided by structure, material, and experience

Techsize

The new Techsize showroom in Guangzhou, China—Techsize by Neolith Global Design Center—begins with a clear idea: to build a space where architecture follows a rigorous, easily recognizable system. From the outset, the project is grounded in a modular logic that organizes the space and establishes a direct relationship between structure, material, and experience.

This logic is articulated through a grid based on two fundamental dimensions: Neolith sintered stone’s 1.5-meter format and a 300 mm structural module. Together, they define a consistent order that extends across every element of the project—from the layout of columns and walls to flooring, cladding, and furniture.

The result is a coherent, serene architecture, where every decision finds its meaning within a shared system.

“The intention was for the space to be understood without explanation, through light, scale, and the presence of the material.”

- Wang Peng
Founder and Design Director, PENG & PARTNERS

Architecture shaped by light and material

The circulation through the building is conceived as a progressive sequence of spaces, guiding visitors from the exterior inward through subtle shifts in scale, brightness, and openness.

“Light becomes part of the architecture: it changes throughout the day, transforms the perception of space, and enhances the reading of Neolith surfaces, allowing the material to express itself naturally.”

- Shirley Qiu
General Manager, Techsize

This transition reflects an understanding of architecture as experience—where movement and perception are integral to the project.

“Working with a clear module allows us to build spaces where everything follows the same logic. When the order is well defined, architecture is experienced naturally.”

- Shirley Qiu
General Manager, Techsize

Across facades, columns, and large wall and floor surfaces, Neolith Strata Argentum brings visual continuity and a restrained presence that defines the character of the whole.

The entrance as a spatial transition

The entry sequence is organized through a portico of columns that establishes a calm cadence along the approach. The repetition of the pillars and the regular spacing between them create order and continuity, while natural light slips between the columns, casting moving shadows that shift with the hours and accompany the visitor.

Here, Neolith sintered stone is integrated as both a structural and expressive element, reinforcing the connection between architecture and material from the first encounter with the building.

A lobby designed as a pause

After passing through the portico, the lobby introduces a deliberate change of pace. A large, sintered stone door—substantial in thickness and bold in geometry—acts as a physical and symbolic threshold between exterior and interior.

Its composition, based on pieces arranged in an apparently free manner, contrasts with the calm of the surrounding space. The precise separations between pillars, walls, and doors allow each element to be read clearly, emphasizing its presence and materiality. This space invites a brief pause before continuing the journey.

Top light and the perception of space

The main hall concentrates the project’s conceptual weight. Overhead light, filtered through a roof formed by glass blocks, creates an even, immersive illumination that defines the atmosphere of the space.

Floor, walls, and ceiling are resolved using the same sintered stone model —Neolith Strata Argentum, creating a continuous reading without interruptions. The absence of superfluous elements allows the texture, graphics, and depth of the material to take center stage.

A smart lighting system—adjustable in intensity and color temperature—introduces subtle variations throughout the day, adding a temporal dimension that transforms the experience with each visit.

Kitchen and dining: lived-in architecture

The kitchen and dining area is designed as an open space where architecture integrates into everyday life. The kitchen is organized around a large island in Neolith Krater, which extends across floors, walls, and fronts to create a continuous, commanding composition.

A central table in the dining area, crafted in Neolith Calacatta introduces a softer texture that balances the overall presence of the space. The flooring maintains the building’s general modulation, reinforcing visual and constructive coherence.

More intimate, contained environments

The bathroom area is conceived as a clean, cohesive space, where the walls and vanity blend seamlessly thanks to the combination of Neolith Strata Argentum and Neolith New Gold. Indirect lighting enhances the texture of the sintered stone and follows the flow of the water, creating a calm and serene atmosphere.

The Cigar Room, clad in Neolith La Bohème, introduces a warmer, more introspective register. The material selection, together with controlled lighting, creates an environment designed for unhurried conversation and rest, closing the journey with a more intimate experience.

A balance between rigor and emotion

At Techsize by Neolith Global Design Center, the modular grid defines the project’s rational structure, while light, scale, and sintered stone add sensory depth. The balance between architectural precision and spatial sensitivity creates an environment where order is not imposed—it is felt naturally, accompanying visitors throughout the entire experience.

A space dedicated to creativity and materiality

The creative materials center is conceived as an environment designed to explore the possibilities of sintered stone. Here, the selection process becomes an active experience, oriented towards both design professionals and end clients.

Neolith sintered stone is presented here as a creative language in itself: a presence capable of revealing nuance, depth, and character as light and perspective shift.

At the heart of the space, a table crafted in Neolith Just White serves as a meeting and workspace, offering a clean, bright surface for studying materials, comparing finishes, and letting ideas take shape.

In this way, the composition of the space highlights the visual continuity of the surfaces and the richness of their finishes, creating a serene, sophisticated atmosphere where materiality is perceived intuitively—inviting new applications and scenarios to be imagined.
