When coastal calm meets natural elegance
Imagine living in a space that feels like an extension of the wild New Zealand coast. Gentle sands, dramatic cliffs, dark volcanic beaches—all seamlessly translated into the surfaces and textures of your kitchen and bathroom.
This is the vision that Morgan Cronin, owner and designer at Cronin Kitchens, brought to life using Neolith Atmosphere range. Inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds him, he created spaces that feel both sophisticated and profoundly rooted in place.
A natural connection
For Morgan, good design is about authenticity. When he first encountered the Atmosphere range, he immediately saw New Zealand in its palette.
“The colours just felt right,” he explains. “They match the light sands of the East Coast, the darker volcanic sands of the West, the white cliffs of Cape Kidnappers, and the soft yellow of Hinuera stone.”
This is more than an aesthetic choice. It’s a personal connection—a reflection of countless days spent on local beaches and a deep love for the dramatic, unspoiled landscapes of his homeland.
Designing a Dream Beach Home
Driven by his love for the ocean, Morgan’s goal was clear: create a home that feels like a natural continuation of the beach environment—calm, relaxed, yet refined. Cronin envisioned a space that would feel perfectly at home in his dream coastal retreat.
In the kitchen, Neolith Rapolano was the perfect fit. Its warm, earthy tones mirror the sun-washed sands of the East Coast, adding a grounded serenity to the space.
“Rapolano was an easy choice,” he says. “It has those soft, lived-in tones that feel inviting and quietly elegant. It’s not trying too hard—it just feels right.”
The result is a kitchen that’s not just functional, but deeply atmospheric. Every surface seems to tell a story of the coast, inviting you to slow down and savour the moment.
For the bathroom, Morgan wanted to introduce a little more drama—without losing its connection to nature. He chose Neolith Ignea from the Atmosphere range to create a bolder, more intense vibe.
“The bathroom needed more intensity,” he explains. “Ignea offers that deeper tone but still feels natural and connected to the broader palette of the home. It makes the space feel like a true retreat.”
It’s the perfect illustration of how Neolith’s wide variety of finishes and tones can help create distinct moods in different spaces—while maintaining an overall sense of harmony, giving as a result sophisticated, flowing spaces where design feels effortless and every detail tells its own story.
A design rooted in place and authenticity
For Morgan, every choice in his design comes from a deep respect for the local landscape. Rather than relying on obvious motifs or forced themes, he focuses on authentic materials and contextual awareness that truly belong.
“The background is the local element,” Morgan notes. “It’s the landscape itself that informs the palette and textures. All the materials and accessories I used are locally available, nothing feels forced or out of context.”
This grounded approach makes the final design feel not only beautiful but genuinely believable—a kitchen and bathroom that seem meant for New Zealand’s coastal homes, balancing form and function with a deep reverence for the land.
With Neolith’s Atmosphere range, Morgan creates spaces that are timeless, tactile, and full of calm, understated luxury. In his hands, stone becomes more than just a surface—it turns into a true story of place, personality, and the quiet, enduring elegance of the New Zealand coastline.
