Located in New South Wales, Orangebark is a home shaped by expressive surfaces, and carefully considered details. Designed by Dtaftsman - Fine Eye Designs and brought to life through the build and joinery expertise of Harrisons Joinery Australia, the project incorporates Neolith Black Obsession as a key material throughout the home.

Applied across key areas including the kitchen, laundry, bathrooms, living area, and alfresco space, Neolith helps create a common language throughout the project. Its use establishes a visual connection between the different rooms, while allowing each space to retain its own identity and purpose.

For Callie Harrison, from Harrisons Joinery, the choice of Neolith was directly connected to the feeling they wanted to bring into the home. The project needed a surface with visual strength, movement, and texture, capable of supporting a bold interior palette with elegance and balance.

“We chose Neolith Black Obsession for the beautiful texture, the movement in the veining, and the depth of color. It immediately stood out as something special and aligned perfectly with the vision we had for the home.”

A kitchen designed for impact and everyday living

In the kitchen, Neolith Black Obsession is applied to the benchtops and backsplash, bringing durability and a strong visual presence to one of the most important areas of the home. Its dark, expressive surface creates an attractive contrast with the chocolate-toned cabinetry, black finishes, and gunmetal accents, giving the space a grounded and sophisticated feel.

The kitchen was designed as a place for cooking, gathering, and spending time together. Because of that, the materials needed to respond to both aesthetic and functional needs. Details such as the shark-nose profile edge and bronze shadowline add definition to the joinery and reinforce the sense of a design considered down to the smallest element.

“The durability is fantastic, and the heat resistance was a non-negotiable for us in this home. It completely changes how we move and cook in the kitchen.”

Bathrooms with an intimate and refined atmosphere

In the bathrooms, Neolith Black Obsession reinforces the intense aesthetic that runs throughout the home. Its dark, textured appearance brings depth and presence to these spaces, while its resistance and easy maintenance make it a practical choice for everyday use.

The ensuite is particularly striking thanks to the full-height stone shower wall in Neolith, complete with a recessed niche and integrated strip lighting. This solution turns the shower into the focal point of the room, creating an intimate, elegant, and highly atmospheric setting.

“The feature stone shower wall is a true standout — such a luxurious space that completely elevates the ensuite.”

A living area connected to the rest of the home

Neolith also appears in the living area through the TV unit, strengthening the material thread that runs across the residence. In this space, the surface takes on a more architectural role, adding visual presence and connecting the living area with the kitchen, bathrooms, and alfresco space.

Its dark tones sit naturally within the broader palette of chocolate browns, black finishes, warm lighting, and gunmetal details. Instead of acting as an isolated feature, Neolith contributes to the overall atmosphere of the home and helps create a sense of continuity from one area to another.

“What we love most is how the Black Obsession ties every space in the home together so seamlessly.”

- Callie Harrison, Harrisons Joinery

Outdoor living made for gathering

The alfresco area continues the same material language found inside the home and creates a natural relationship between the residence, outdoor living, and moments of connection. Here, Neolith Black Obsession is used on a large island bench with waterfall ends and chunky mitered edges, turning it into a central piece for gatherings and celebrations.

This application combines practicality with a powerful visual presence. The island is designed to meet the demands of an active outdoor area, while also becoming one of the most eye-catching elements of the project. Its bold volume, dark surface, and carefully executed details give the alfresco space a strong and polished character.

By extending Neolith into the outdoor area, the home achieves a fluid transition between inside and outside. The material supports the functional needs of a space created for sharing, while preserving the same refined aesthetic that defines the rest of the residence.

Precision and craftsmanship in the installation

One of the most important aspects of the Orangebark project is the quality of the stone fabrication and installation. KD Stoneworks Tumut played a key role in transforming the initial design vision into a precise and beautifully executed result, visible in the definition of the edges, the alignment of the surfaces, and the clean finish of each application.

In a project with so many large-format sintered stone applications, the role of the stonemason is essential. The material needs to be handled, fabricated, and installed with accuracy so that every joint, edge, and surface feels perfectly integrated. At Orangebark, that attention to detail strengthens the overall quality of the home and gives each space a highly resolved finish.

Although the residence embraces dark tones and an intense aesthetic, the project was designed to feel warm, balanced, and welcoming. Nature was an important source of inspiration, along with visual references that helped define the direction of the interiors. Natural light and warm lighting soften the depth of the palette, creating a home that feels comfortable and easy to live in.
